6 Februari 2014 bersamaan dengan 6 Rabiulawal 1435H, Pusat PERMATApintar Negara telah menganjurkan Sambutan Maulidur Rasul peringkat sekolah. Sambutan tahun ini diadakan bersama-sama pelajar ASASIpintar pada waktu malam.

Jemputan khas pada malam itu ialah Dr. Zulkifli Mohammad al-Bakri, seorang penceramah terkenal tanah air. Beliau menyampaikan ceramah yang begitu dekat dengan hati para pelajar PERMATApintar iaitu sifat Nabi Muhammad s.a.w yang fatanah. Antara intipati ceramah beliau ialah hadith yang membuktikan kebijaksanaan Rasulullah serta kisah hidup Imam Syafie yang sememangnya terkenal sebagai seorang yang cerdik. Pada akhir sesi tersebut, jualan buku-buku yang dikarang oleh Dr. Zulkifli diadakan. Semoga semua pelajar mampu mengambil iktibar daripada penyampaian beliau dan seterusnya memasang azam untuk mengikut jejak langkah mereka yang memanfaatkan akal untuk berfikir.

The 2014 Orientation week has come and gone, and now the Level 1 and Foundation 1 students are taking their first steps into a treacherous journey in PERMATApintar. 20th January marks the date of their arrival, and at night was their very first activity: LDK. Activities include walking clock, I am not alone and birthday circle.

The next four days were filled with team-building activities and a bit of an introduction of what they would face in the near future. They exchanged shoes to have a literal insight of the idiom "to be in somebody else's shoes", they built a tower using playing cards, they constructed a spaghetti+jelly+straw tower that could withstand the weight of 60++ transparency paper and they sang songs together. There was a community tree placed at the back of the multipurpose hall for them to paste anything positive.

All of the seniors helped out both directly and indirectly in making the week a memorable one. From Tuesday to Thursday, two classes performed their senamrobik for the evening aerobic session. In the morning, the seniors assisted their morning exercise. Oh, and this week would've gone well if it weren't for the assistance given by the teachers and counselors.

A closing ceremony was held on Friday, and this marks the end of the 2014 orientation week. This is a new beginning guys, not only for the juniors but the seniors as well. In a nutshell, it is up to you yourself to choose between being happy or sad at being a QuadP student. The most important thing is, we are one big family and we've got each other's backs.

A very special day indeed! After almost a whole month of anticipation, the Foundation 1 and Level 1 students of 2014 are finally here. Registration started as early as 8.30 a.m. and everyone is equally excited about their arrival. Looks of curiosity and eagerness can be clearly seen on their faces. The seniors even helped deliver their baggage up to their rooms. This is truly a new year to look forward to. Hopefully PERMATA will give birth to young, intelligent and successful students, both here and in the hereafter.

It's Saturday night, and you know what that means? 5K3 is having their very own movie night! Aimed to raise funds for their CADS voluntary project, they sell foods and beverages for all to enjoy during the movie-watching. They're offering domino's pizza, hot dogs and floats to name a few. It seems that the students are enjoying the night. Time to chillax B)

People are hungry

This just in. The list of students offered to Program Pendidikan PERMATApintar has been released! Imagine, for one whole year, no new students were ever admitted to this program; and now, a whole new year means a whole new batch! Wait, there's more. This year, we'll be expecting foundation students too (equivalent to Form 1 though totally different in terms of syllabus).

We're hearing (or reading) loads and loads of excitement from the students-to-be, and are of course equally thrilled ourselves. Courtesy of a fellow Quad P student, Khairul Ain (a rising senior) who recently posted a few important tips on facebook, we bring you "Things you should know before becoming a Quad P student"

1. It's not easy! If you're the type who would never read a book before a test and ace it, you might just change because trust me, you need to work HARD. 

2. Be prepared to receive a HUGE amount of workload. It's part of the package (do refer to number 1). For our examinations, we use the 60-40 system. 60% of the mark is from the test and 40% is from your coursework. This includes presentations, projects, etc.

3. Just so you know that the stream of work is endless so brace yourself and just go through it! Though, I would say, it's not that bad. The assignments that the instructors give you are interesting and out-of-the-box. They help you to develop soft skills too.

4. This is important - we practice INDEPENDENT STUDYING here. This simply means that you can't just rely 100% on your instructors to convey you everything that you should be learning. No spoon feeding, yo! You have to make your own revisions. The instructors are always there to help you out but you must be PROACTIVE (else how would they know you're in need of help?).

5. It's tough being a pioneer. There's a lot of deficiencies and you should try to accept them. If you are unsatisfied with something, try to overcome them.

6. In order to get an A+, you need to score a 95 (just throwing it out there).

7. Don't expect perfection and QuadP is not the place for entertainment.

8. Take the opportunity to try new things.

She's just... there...

Tanjung Malim Perak. That's where the Level 1 students of PERMATApintar headed for the much-anticipated Jati Diri camp. Unlike the previous unit-beruniform camp, this camp serves to develop us together. The 2-to-3-hour-long journey meant nap time for some students, and chat time for others. Upon arrival, our belongings were left behind to be taken by a truck whilst we ourselves had to go on foot. It was probably 15-20 minutes before we reached our destination, and a few more minutes before our belongings arrived. Kem Desa Selesa(lah sangat).

The students put on different expressions as they set eyes on the jambatan gantung. Some were overjoyed; others, terrified. The trick is to walk with a steady pace, and to not stop for the bridge would be even more wobbly. Soon, rain poured and some of the students were drenched. In the hall, we were greeted by the head facilitator, who was really good at making jokes. A briefing of the activities and a pelantikan penghulu dan penghuluwati became the head start of the camp. After getting no objections and no other suggestions, it was agreed that Nur Azim and Nur Izzati Hamizah be our penghulu and penghuluwati respectively.

That night, we had some kind of ice breaking activity before being assigned into groups. Each were given "money" that would be worth throughout camp, and would be used for dealing with the facilitators and the like. Our goal: to obtain at least RM2500 by the end of the camp by winning competitions and running errands which is better known as "tender". We do the chores, they give money. That's the deal.

Right after, we had to face the (dreaded) night walk. It was exciting, really, to be out there in the forest all alone in the middle of the night. Yup. At least the people ahead and behind are somewhat visible. 30 or so minutes later, we were "rescued". Not all actually. Some of us got left behind.

Senamrobik

Day 2 was kicked start with a senamrobik. Next: jungle trekking. It was practically the same route that we used last night, although not as ghastly. At one point, we were required to build a campfire and cook an egg and half a potato. Some of the teams made it, some less fortunate only managed a spark. Nevertheless, it did remind us of the importance of having survival skills. We moved on to the river, but this time, the lightest member of the team had to be lifted by the members. Back pain. It was meant for us to learn the importance of cooperation in a group.

Explorace awaited us late in the afternoon. I guess all of us would agree that the best thing about the explorace was the rain. We were like running and screaming in the rain, focusing on the race rather than the weather. That night, we had talentime. The groups' performance varied and all were very interesting and humorous.

Closing Ceremony

The third and last day. We prepared for the closing ceremony. It was difficult to accept the fact that all of this would be over and getting back to school. Spending time with those that we rarely interacted with, doing things that we probably won't do ever, sharing toilets, living in one huge dormitory, cooperating in a team to reach a goal and finishing chores like washing the dishes, serving food and leading the senamrobik. It was an experience never to be forgotten by the Level 1 Students of PERMATApintar 2013. May the bond be stronger than brass, tougher than steel.

On the 12th of November 2013, PERMATApintar once again welcomed a very the princess of Brunei Darussalam for her royal visit. Pangeran Anak Sarah is the wife of the Crown Prince of Brunei, Al-Muhtadee Billah. She came along with her son to observe the activities and facilities in PERMATApintar National Gifted Centre. Although the students were still in their examination week, they still showed enthusiasm and participated well during the visit.

A few students did a musical performance in the Seminar Room. Others were stationed in labs or classes according to their respective classes. The rest waved flags along the entrance. Two students, Khairul Ain and Rahazimah, were selected to be the "Herb Kids", that is, to explain each and every herb there is at the blok makmal. Two lucky students, Maneesha and Nurafifah Natrah, were chosen to present a bouquet of flowers to the princess.

What was great about the visit was she left the students with chocolates. It was definitely an honourable visit from the royal family of Brunei.

You scanned the page for any download buttons. None to be found. You tried the right-click. Still can't find the word "download". Only option that's available is the share button. You exit the flickr page in despair, tears down your cheeks.

Okay, maybe not to the extent of tears. But today, we would like to offer a solutions to all your problems (regarding photo download on flickr). So first, as yourself this: do I want to download a single photo or multiple photos? Guess what? We have the answer to both *happy face*

1. Downloading photos individually

This is best if you want to download ten photos or less. Simply go to the flickr page, click on the photo that you'd like to keep, and right-click it again. On the "view all sizes", choose the size that you'd want your photo to be.

You will then be brought to this page where you'll have the option to click on download, change the size of photo or simply right-click and choose "save as"

2. Download multiple photos

If you're using google chrome of torch or anything associated with both, you can download the downflickr app. Just copy and paste the photo id or the set id that you want.
